Harpers Ferry Water Works is accepting applications for the position of Water Works Superintendent. Located in beautiful Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, serving approximately 820 customers, the position is full-time with paid benefits including health, vacation, sick leave, and retirement. The incumbent serves as the responsible official for managing the daily operation activity of the water plant and distribution ensuring that all State and Federal safe drinking water rules and regulations are vigorously adhered to; providing the necessary daily supervision and management of all water plant operators, including daily work assignments and assessing the work of subordinate employees; preparing and monitoring an annual budget; developing long- and short-term goals and objectives; and managing system improvements including involvement in a $6.3 million major water system improvement upgrade project. The incumbent will also communicate with a wide range of governmental units and agencies, prepare reports, and represent the water system at meetings and on committees. The incumbent serves in a technically complex and critical position responsible for ensuring the safety and distribution of the entire water system for Harpers Ferry. Requirements include at least 5 years of experience working directly in the field of water treatment and water distribution, management or supervisory experience, and some experience working with regulatory agencies on utility-related matters and a Class II Water operator’s license or above.
Salary starting: $53,000+ depending on experience and qualifications.

Located in beautiful Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, serving approximately 820 customers, the position is full time with benefits and career advancement potential. Benefits include health, paid vacation, sick leave and retirement. Applicants shall possess a minimum of a high school education or GED and a valid driver’s license. Duties include meter reading, fixing water leaks, and basic water operations. Heavy equipment operation in tight situations is a highly desirable skill. Work can be physically demanding requiring sufficient strength and stamina to operate a variety of tools and wrenches.
