Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China in December 2019. Since then, tens of thousands of confirmed cases have been reported worldwide. The novel (new) coronavirus that causes COVID-19, designated SARS-CoV-2, is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans. Symptoms of infection include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
